Ceremonial uncleanness vs Salvation

I have been reading the latter chapters of John; 18 and 19 about Jesus at the end of his ministerial walk on earth and his being given up by the Jews to the Roman authorities. One thing that kept catching my eye was how the worldiness of the Jews was employed to ensure they were not unclean in order to participate in the Passover activities vs giving up the Messiah to be murdered.

The irony is way too obvious. In John 18:28 "Then the Jews led Jesus from Caiaphas to the palace of the Roman governor. By now it was early morning, and to avoid ceremonial uncleanness the Jews did not enter the palace; they wanted to be able to eat the Passover."

You see, they didn't know that Jesus WAS the Passover!!!!

And in John 19:31 "Now it was the day of Preparation, and the next day was to be a special Sabbath. Because the Jews did not want the bodies left on the crosses during the Sabbath, they asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken down."

OK, so let's remain ceremonially clean and 'break the bones' of the victums so they wouldn't be 'left on the crosses during the Sabbath'. We wouldn't want our dirty laundry to be evident during our 'holy' day.

They didn't know that Jesus WAS the Sabbath!!!!

It's amazing as we who have the Holy Spirit in our hearts and are reminded, as Jesus said we would be, of Jesus' miracles and message and transforming of our lives; that there is such and obvious difference between the reality of the Spiritual world vs the supposed reality of the world we live in and see around us.
