Alright, I admit it... I've been a slackard, McFly.... No really, I have been ignoring my devotional time. I don't know exactly why it happens (I do have a bit of an answer I may share another time), but, I believe I am normal and that, at times, each of us slips into our little 'worldly' place. Hmm?
Regardless, I have been drawn back to write and to share.
God is awesome. Just read the beginning of the Bible; Genesis 1.... "in the beginning, God created...." and the rest of the story unfolds from there.
We are new creations in Christ which is what happens according to the New Testament accounts of Christ's walk on earth. When we believe on Him and maintain our faith in God's reclamation of us through Christ, it is our faith in Him that assures our place in Heaven's eternity.
"8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." Ephesians 2.
It is our appreciation and thankfulness to God that draws us into a life of faith, love, compassion and service. It is the Holy Spirit that indwells us and continuously reminds us of God's mercy, Christ's sacrifice and our need for God's intervention in our lives and work. We are to 'put on Christ.' It is God that is doing His work in and through us. Praise Him!!!
Look into this life by reading the Bible, maintaining close accounts with God through prayer, recognize the truth about yourself and your need for God's mercy, love others as they are just like ourselves, and, grow in the knowledge of God.
Amen

This is so weird Dad... Our sermon yesterday was about having quiet time and devotionals and reading the Word! It was sooo something you would have loved to hear. Brady talked about an illustration that if you think of yourself as a sailboat... If you read the word, it's like God blowing enough wind to bring your sail to the maximum, and you can be ready for the world with God's covering over you. I don't know if I am explaining it right, but I'm sure you get the drift. I have recommitted to trying to read first thing in the am for my devos... I love you!
